The Project:
The Sentinel Contracting team was invited by Nullifire to undertake installation of its Soffit System within Battersea Power Station. Specifically, to install hi-impact soffit board in multiple areas of the project.
Our specialist team helped Nullifire achieve their vision through superior attention to detail. In Nullifire’s opinion our soffit installation at Battersea Power Station is one of the highest standard they have seen.
Client: Nullifire for Battersea Power Station
Sector: Office
Region: London
Services: Firestopping
The Results:
Our expertise helped us to deliver installation of the system to an extremely high standard. Working with Nullifire’s Soffit System the Sentinel team ensured that the spacing of fixings was correct to Nullifire’s methodology whilst remaining aesthetically in-line.
Aaron Gardiner, Key Account Manager, Nullifire says, “The positioning of boards and level surface was very impressive to see on a project where weather conditions are a factor. The overall quality of installation was extremely high in a challenging environment. The final fit and finish from the inspection was beyond satisfactory. The product is not designed to be a finished look, but the quality of install is of a very high standard which was required by the client”.
The visual inspection looked at the fixing spacing, drop rod install/services, board flush fitting and surface level install.
Aaron Gardiner continued, “In my opinion the install was exemplary and for a product that is again not designed to be a decorative finish. With the calcium silicate board there will always be a variation in colour, this is unavoidable due to the manufacturing process. Sentinel have installed the boards in a manner where the colour variation was sympathetically installed to create an aesthetic finish.
As we approach 2025, building safety remains a top priority, particularly when it comes to fire safety. At Sentinel, we’ve been at the forefront of this critical area, helping our clients ensure that their buildings are protected, compliant, and aligned with the industry’s most rigorous safety standards.
One of the most effective forms of passive fire protection is Intumescent Paint. This specialised coating expands when exposed to heat, forming a thick, insulating layer that shields structural elements from the intense heat of a fire.
